Our Story

This is the story of our son, Jeremiah and what has inspired us to create Enrichment Learning Center.

Our son, Jeremiah was born on December 10, 2010 weighing only 2lbs, 10oz. His low birth weight was the result of him having suffered a stroke in the utero. Shortly after Jeremiah's birth we were told our son would be in a vegetative state for the rest of his life.

For the first two years of Jeremiah's life we spent countless days in the hospital hoping each day would get better, but after his first birthday Jeremiah developed Infantile Spasms (seizures).  As part of the recommended treatment plan we tried a trial medication, which eventually led him in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).  After four weeks, the doctor informed us that Jeremiah had made no progress in breathing on his own and that there was nothing else they could do, they were very sorry, but the treatment was not working.  You can only imagine how my husband and I felt......our entire world shattered.

The very next morning after being given only 24 hours to live… Jeremiah started to show signs of his oxygen level increasing and the doctors started to decrease the levels on the oscillator vent machine. He is a miracle! He is 14 years old and loves to play soccer.

My name is Jenny, I am the Program Director and CEO of Enrichment Learning Center. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science, Master’s degree in Early childhood Special Education. I am DIRFloortime trained and a certification in Behavior and Mental Health from Stanford University.

I have been working with youth for more than 20 years in a classroom and recreational setting. After seeing how limited the resources were for my son, I decided to start my own organization to help youth with all abilities. My goal is to provide programs that are inclusive and create a safe environment that is adapting to new learning environments. Jeremiah has been my inspiration to bring awareness to families in our community.
